So you have spent ages getting the right fit, the right colours, the right decoration, styles and lines, but a costume is not just about the main event, be it the tutu or the dress or the leotard.  It includes everything else, the hair and make-up, socks, tights and shoes, and props.  When you start to build a dance, all of these things are important.

Today I would like to share with you just one of the hair pieces we can do here at Coalface Costumes.  These are called bun rings.  A bun ring is a crown-like arrangement of flowers.  It is placed directly against the bun, either cantered at the top or the bottom.  They can be quite a heavy hairpiece for very young, slim dancers and so I would always advise I slightly smaller hairpiece for this age range.  However, until the child is ready for a tiara, these can be very classical and extremely beautiful.

Ask your costumer what they would do with hair and hairpieces and discuss this as part of the commission.  You may find, like here, that they are able to provide you a more complete costume if it is required!
