The first thing I must do is say Happy Birthday to my old dance teacher. How lucky for it to fall on International Tutu Day! Hope you have a wonderful day.
Today I thought I would let you in on one of the elements of my business, my bible. This isn’t for faith but is a costume bible. In it, everything we have ever made here has a note of who for, when for, unique ID, measurements, designs, fabrics, notions, refitting, current owners/locations, longevity, images, and the list goes on. I use it to ensure no two tutus are the same, even with the same colours or designs, to refresh me before refitting or second, third or fourth costumes, to check how things have held up and whether I need to change my construction and so on and so forth.
These four front sheets are for the four new tutus for the upcoming festival. There may be a fifth but, until that is confirmed, I will not add it in here. All of these will be appearing at Colsterworth as tutus, some in novice and some in open sections. I challenge you to find them given these fabric and design snippets alone.
Tutu1: Creamy classical with dusky rose and light copper lace. Augmented with copper and rose copper AB sequins
Tutu2: All colours of the ice queen! Very very sparkly and very much the girl who will wear it
Tutu3: Toned down strong colours though the use of whites and silvers. A few teal crystals finished this tutu off perfectly around delicate tutu skirt edges
Tutu4: Laces of gold through to browns and coppers on a beautiful ivory tutu base. offset with light pink AB stones to keep it warm
All 4 girls have also got head pieces. In order we have a tiara, a long flower piece, a bun ring and a lace and flower side piece. I have seen two tutus on so far and know that the dancers will work hard in their new tutus. Happy hunting!
