At any age, the idea of designing a tutu can be daunting. It is hard to imagine what things will look like when placed together on such a structure under as particular lighting as stage lights and often, with so much choice, the process can feel quite overwhelming. With younger clients this often results in passively interacting with the design process. Not so for this confident young performer who very quickly identified what she did and didn’t like from my stash and then, with very developed ideas of colour and form, proceeded to design her own tutu with little prompting from me or mum. What she designed was a pleasure to make for her and very different to what I was thinking for her. Per our policy I will not be adding pictures of her in her tutu to our site but suffice to say she looked every bit the confident, gorgeous young performer in her tutu when she took it away from fitting and also I see from the pictures she did wonderfully well on stage and looked like she thoroughly enjoyed her ballet!
Congratulations Miss Ellie Mae, I look forward to watching you develop in the future!
